Terms of Use
Dote is a private notebook that runs on your phone. You own what you write in it, we cannot see it, and a subscription only removes the limits on how much of it you can keep.
1. What Dote is
Dote is an iOS app for remembering details about people you care about — dates, sizes, preferences, wishlists, past gifts — and for reminding you before those dates arrive. It requires no account.
2. Your content is yours
Everything you enter belongs to you. It is stored on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. The developer operates no server that stores it and has no way to read it. You can export all of it at any time, and deleting the app removes it from that device.
3. The free version and Dote Pro
The free version keeps up to 3 people, including anyone in the recycle bin, and includes all reminders, iCloud sync, the widget, and the Face ID lock. Dote Pro removes the people limit and adds full export and import.
Dote Pro is offered as an auto-renewing subscription:
- Monthly — US$3.99 per month
- Yearly — US$19.99 per year
Prices in other territories are set from Apple's price tiers and may differ.
4. Billing, renewal, and cancellation
Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically at the same price and period unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
Manage or cancel a subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; the current period continues until it ends. Cancelling never deletes anything you saved — the vault simply returns to the free limits.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us: reportaproblem.apple.com.
5. What we do not promise
Dote schedules reminders as local iOS notifications. Whether a notification is delivered depends on iOS and on your device settings — notification permission, Focus modes, Low Power Mode, and available notification slots. Dote is a memory aid, not a guarantee; do not rely on it as the sole reminder for something that carries legal, medical, or financial consequences.
Size conversions shown in the app are approximations for shopping convenience and are labelled as such. They are not manufacturer specifications.
The app is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent permitted by law, the developer's liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.
6. Acceptable use
Do not use Dote to store information about someone in violation of the law where you live, and do not attempt to interfere with the App Store purchase process. There is no shared or public content in Dote, so there is nothing to moderate: the app has no accounts, no social features, and no way to send anything to another user.
7. Changes
These terms may change when the app changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision, and material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
